“The Rock Careers are Built Upon.”

From the Director's Desk

For the first time, I'm typing this note from the Director's Desk from my office in the new Table Rock Career Center.  It's so great to finally be into our new facility and having all of our programs of study getting acclimated into their new classrooms and labs.  As you can imagine, there are lots of things to complete before the building is ready for guests.  We have scheduled an opportunity for everyone to come see the building via an Open House after the official ribbon cutting from 11:30 to 12:30 on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.  We'll have an additional Open House in March, so be watching for that date as well. We are so proud of our new facility and all the work our students and staff have put into making this a reality.  Have a wonderful Holiday Season from all of us here at TRCC.

Nov S of the M

Congratulations to our Computer Technology instructor, Jock Thompson, for being named the November Teacher of the Month. Mr. Thompson has been a master of juggling many tasks at the same time during the transition of moving into the new Table Rock Career Center.  Mr. Thompson's classroom activities require his students to use critical thinking and problem solving skills.  With the move into the new career center the classroom has expanded to the entire building and in addition to working with his students, he has been helping the staff with the new technology used in their classrooms and labs.

Congratulations to our assistant teacher, Dusty Borgman, for being named our November Employee of the Month.  Mr. Borgman has been a vital part of the Collision Repair program's move into the new Table Rock Career Center.  His many years of experience in the collision repair industry has been instrumental in the program’s seamless transition into the new tech center.  He appreciates the opportunity to pass on his passion for the collision repair industry to the next generation of technicians who will soon be entering this high-demand industry.

Spotlight on Computer Technology

Test Out

The students in the Computer Technology program have been hard at work during this school year.  In addition to working on TestOut PC Pro, IT Pro and Network Security certifications they have been playing a very important part in installing new technology for students and staff in our new career center.  Beginning last school year, the computer technology program began being the main technical support help desk for student chromebooks in all of the buildings in the Reeds Spring School District.  Since the beginning of the school year, Mr. Thompson’s student technicians have repaired hundreds of student devices.

Since 2002, Jock Thompson has been an instructional cornerstone at TRCC.  Many of his students thank him for lighting a spark that grew into careers in technology.  He always encourages students to find their passion and when they use this passion to pursue a career in the IT industry it brings him so much professional satisfaction.

Congratulations to the following Computer Technology II students from Reeds Spring High School for recently earning their TestOut IT Pro Certifications (from left to right): Hunter Ball, Diego Moreno, Lex Haden, Tristan Eby, and Peyton Hulbert.

TRCC Alumni Spotlight:

Tyler Morgan

With great excitement we are featuring 2016 Reeds Spring High graduate, Tyler Morgan as our December alumni spotlight. Tyler is a chassis mechanic and a member of the Muc-Off/FXR/Club MX Yamaha Motocross Team that competes in the Pro Motocross Championship racing series.  The race team consists of five riders and a support staff of 10 individuals racing in major stadiums all over the world.  The team races Yamaha YZ450F Racing Edition & YZ250F Racing Edition motorcycles and is owned by Brandon Hass.

Tyler appreciates the opportunity he had when he attended Gibson Technical Center to be empowered and challenged in the Auto Technology program. This was the spark he needed to to find a career path that provided purpose to his life. This hands-on experience paved the way to where he is today working on a major motocross team.  He encourages all students who are interested in attending Table Rock Career Center to do so because “you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.”

Cailyn is employed by the Reeds Spring School District and is exploring a career in education by working in the elementary and intermediate buildings. Cailyn shares, "I am looking forward to getting a little bit of insight into what I am thinking my future could be. I know that I want to be a teacher, but that is based on seeing the good parts of it. With this opportunity, I can now see the hard parts of teaching and have a background in it before college." RS Works is incredibly grateful that the Reeds Spring School District places such high value on their students, ensuring they have access to meaningful opportunities for growth and success.

Spotlight on Welding

Booth

Students in the TRCC welding program have played a very important role in the transition into the new building.  They constructed the welding booths, moved equipment from the old facility and set up the new shop.  The Welding Program strives to open doors for students to work in the welding industry. Students in welding will learn the following welding processes in all positions: SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW. Other industry skills learned in this program of study include reading precise measurements, blueprint reading, oxy-fuel cutting, plasma-arc cutting, fit-up and pipe. Upon completion of this program of study students have an opportunity to earn an OSHA Safety & Health Administration, forklift and American Welding Society certifications.

Instructor, Mr. Jordan Lewallen, is a Reeds Spring graduate who was enrolled in Gibson Technical Center’s Automotive Technology and Welding programs. He graduated from the Missouri Welding Institute and gained industry experience as a fabricator at James River Boat Dock Service. Under his leadership the Welding program has had excellent enrollment and excellent career placement
